Timothy Lamar Hart

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 29, at 1:00 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church with Fr. Tom Shepanzyk presiding. A private burial will follow in Bennett’s Chapel Cemetery in Warren County.

Tim was born on October 7, 1947, in China Lake, California, the son of the late Lamar Woodward Hart and Jean Tipton Hart.

He grew up in the Altadena area, where he excelled in sports, including baseball, basketball, and track. He graduated from Pasadena High School in 1965 and subsequently attended the University of California, Irvine, earning a bachelor’s degree in Psychology in the college’s first graduating class.

He later moved to Salem, Oregon, where he started his own landscaping business and met his beloved Jean. They married on July 24, 1977. Their daughter, Robin, was born the next year, followed by their son, Daniel, in 1983. After moving the family to Fairfield, Iowa, in 1987, Mr. Hart worked as a sales representative for Soil Technologies for 28 years. He retired in 2016 and spent the last eight years of his life surrounded by family and a vibrant Catholic community in the Shenandoah Valley.

Tim greatly enjoyed gardening and landscaping projects, playing golf and basketball, umpiring Little League baseball games, watching his beloved Chicago Cubs, having rich theological conversations about his Catholic faith with his family and friends, playing cards, reading books, and chopping wood with his grandsons, and most of all living his faith and spending time with his family.

Surviving are his devoted wife, Jean Hart; daughter, Robin Hart of Portland, Oregon; son, Daniel Hart and wife Sarah of Strasburg; sister, Suzan Clausen and husband Chris of San Diego, California; and four grandchildren, Luke, James, Samuel, and Benjamin.

Mr. Hart was preceded in death by his parents and twin brothers, Michael and Henry Hart.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Hart, George Miranda, Michael Turner, Rick Von Ehr, Joe Michael, and Joseph Christman.

Honorary pallbearer will be Luke Hart.

The family will receive friends on Friday, November 28, from 4-6 p.m. at Maddox Funeral Home with a Rosary and time of remembrances beginning at 5 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, 120 West Main Street, Front Royal, Virginia 22630, or to the Front Royal Pregnancy Center, 11 South Royal Ave., Front Royal, Virginia 22630.
