Front Royal Gallery Extends Two Popular Art Exhibitions Through July 26
Visitors will have more time to explore two widely praised art exhibitions at the Melissa Ichiuji Studio Gallery in downtown Front Royal.
The gallery announced that both Slow Image: Material Intelligence Across Generations and The Good, the Bad and the Naughty have been extended through July 26, following strong visitor interest across the region.
Since opening, the exhibitions have sparked conversations about creativity, artistic process, and the connection between historic and modern art. One recent event brought together artists and visitors for a panel discussion led by curator and writer Jane Livingston. The conversation focused on how artists work with materials, develop ideas, and respond to changes in contemporary culture.
Gallery owner Melissa Ichiuji said the response from visitors has been encouraging.
“Over the past several weeks, we’ve welcomed visitors from across the region and beyond, hosted thoughtful conversations, and shared work by an exceptional group of artists,” Ichiuji said.
Slow Image: Material Intelligence Across Generations brings together works by some of the most recognized names in modern art alongside contemporary artists whose work focuses on craftsmanship and physical materials. The exhibition includes original prints by Pablo Picasso, Joan Miró, Salvador Dalí, Marc Chagall, Henri Matisse, Alexander Calder, and Alberto Giacometti.
The exhibition encourages visitors to slow down and spend time with each piece, focusing on texture, process, and artistic detail. Rather than rushing through the gallery, visitors are invited to sit with the work and consider how artists from different generations approach similar ideas.
The second exhibition, The Good, the Bad and the Naughty, takes a more playful path. Through paintings, woodwork, and steel sculpture, the exhibition explores humor, beauty, imagination, vulnerability, and personal transformation.
Together, the two exhibitions create a conversation between past and present, showing how artists continue to build on traditions while finding new ways to express emotion and ideas.
The gallery will temporarily close from June 12 through June 21 while staff refresh the exhibition spaces and prepare new additions to the shows. The gallery will reopen on June 26.
Melissa Ichiuji Studio Gallery is located at 223 East Main Street in Front Royal. Gallery hours are Friday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Admission information and additional details about upcoming events can be found through the gallery’s public channels.
