In a plug for the home team, South River District Supervisor Linda Glavis acknowledged three awards garnered by local winemaker Jeff White during her report to the February 19 Warren County Board of Supervisors meeting.

Noting that White’s Glen Manor Vineyards took two golds and one silver medal in an early-round of this year’s Governor’s Cup statewide competition, Glavis beamed, “They’re in our district.”

Glavis will hope to have more good home-brewed news to report at a March board meeting – WAIT, is “brewed” acceptable slang for winemaking?!? – as White carries two Glen Manor’s wines to the February 26 Governor’s Cup finals in Richmond where the commonwealth’s top 12 wines of the year are announced.

And why not? – White has past success in the Governor’s Cup, winning several Gold Medals beginning with a 2012 nod for his Hodder Hill, circa 2009; three gold medals for various vintages of the Hodder Hill in 2018; as well as several silver medals over the years.

Glen Manor Vineyards Governor’s Cup candidates for a gold this year are for a 2015 St. Ruth and 2015 Cabernet Franc.

Taking a Governor’s Cup Gold is prestigious, as winners become part of “The Governor’s Case” wines presented at state meals, often with an international array of guests. The Governor’s Case wines also become part of the commonwealth’s marketing of its products for national and international consumption.

Go Jeff – and Kelly!!
Go Glen Manor Vineyards!!
Go South River District!!!
