UPDATE – Change of Location: Lifting Our Voices in Prayer for America and Our Community

Published

on

The National Day of Prayer event schedule on May 1 at the Gazebo has been moved to the Warren County High School cafeteria at 6 pm.

Church leaders across Front Royal and the surrounding area are coming together to host a National Day of Prayer event on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at 6:00 PM at the gazebo on Main Street. The public is warmly invited to gather in prayer, worship, and reflection as part of this long-standing American tradition.

This event is part of the nationwide observance held annually on the first Thursday in May, where people of all faiths are encouraged to pray for the country and its leaders. Participants will have the opportunity to sing inspirational songs, listen to scripture readings, and join in unified prayer for Front Royal, Warren County, Virginia, and the United States.

In the event of rain, the gathering will be relocated to the Warren County High School cafeteria.

The National Day of Prayer has been a part of America’s history since 1775, when the Continental Congress first called for a day of prayer and fasting. In 1952, President Harry S. Truman signed a joint resolution of Congress establishing the annual observance. In 1988, President Ronald Reagan signed a law setting the official day as the first Thursday in May.

Each year, millions of Americans across the country participate in local and state events. From city parks to courthouses and from churches to school steps, the day serves as a time for citizens to set aside differences and come together in faith.

Organizers in Front Royal hope this year’s gathering will bring encouragement, unity, and spiritual renewal to the community. Volunteers and participants from multiple churches will lead prayers for national leaders, local government, families, schools, first responders, and more.
