WCHS DECA Students Launch Wildcats Live and The Roar Media Programs
Two Warren County High School students, Makayla Harper and Nathalie Abrego, have launched an innovative student-led media initiative featuring Wildcats Live and The Roar.
Wildcats Live provides live-stream coverage of Warren County High School athletics throughout the year. The program delivers professional-quality broadcasts with live commentary, dynamic camera angles, and in-game interviews with fans, players, and coaches. The production team—comprised of students enrolled in the school’s Sports and Entertainment Management class—creates a game-day experience that brings Wildcat pride directly to the community.

Complementing the live broadcasts, The Roar produces pre-recorded video announcements that air each day during the second period. Under the direction of Harper and Abrego, the student team writes, films, and anchors these segments, keeping students and staff informed about school news, upcoming events, and student achievements.
The concept for both programs originated from DECA advisor Richard Gardner, who encouraged Makayla and Nathalie to develop the idea as part of their DECA project for the 2024–2025 and 2025–2026 school years. Since then, the students have actively sought community feedback to refine their productions and enhance the viewing experience for their audiences.
Through Wildcats Live and The Roar, Warren County High School students are gaining real-world experience in broadcasting, marketing, and leadership—while strengthening school spirit and community connection.
