Shenandoah Film Collaborative starts outdoor film series

Published

on

Strasburg Square will be the home to outdoor summer films for seven weekends this summer. All occurring on a Saturday at around 8:45 PM.

Strasburg, VA — Due to the recent $1,000 grant from the Shenandoah Community Foundation, as well as other local financial support from residents and organizations throughout the region, Strasburg-based 501(c)(3) Shenandoah Film Collaborative (SFC) will be starting it’s new annual outdoor film program this Saturday.

This program, titled “Summer Sunset Series”, is part of its Seasonal Film Series program which aims to show independent and well-known films to the Shenandoah Valley that will lead up to the 2nd Annual Strasburg Film Festival – November 13th – 15th – which benefits the Shenandoah County School District’s Theatre programs.

“We’ve seen such a huge uptick in community support in our second year of existence,” said SFC Executive Director Daniel Feldbusch. “Because of this, we will be able to triple our programming from last year to those we serve. We try our best to wisely invest our funding right back into the community, and this Outdoor Film Series is just one example of it.”

The SFC will continue to use Strasburg as an incubator in measuring the success of showing well known, classic films, independent films, as well as modern films that have made an impact on the cinema community.

“If this summer sunset series plays a positive impact to the Strasburg area we will work with other area communities to secure funding and volunteers to bring outdoor programming to their area,” Feldbusch said. “Films can bring communities together, and when a community works as one, everyone wins.”

The Summer Sunset Outdoor Film Series will be shown at Strasburg Square, 216 E King St, Strasburg, VA 22657, with all films starting at sunset, which is expected to be around 8:45 pm.

If harsh weather is in the forecast, a scheduled film will be postponed to a later date. To stay up-to-date on any last-minute changes to the schedule, go the shenfilms.com and sign up for its newsletter. Or, follow us on social media:
