Winchester Police recover guns, drugs during routine traffic stop for headlight

Robert Lindsey was arrested by Winchester Police after illegal drugs and guns were reportedly found during a routine traffic stop for a defective headlight.

Julia Bowen was arrested on Christmas Eve after police officers reportedly discovered illicit drugs and guns during the routine traffic stop.
WINCHESTER – A Winchester police officer conducting a routine traffic stop on Christmas Eve for defective headlights discovered illicit drugs and guns in the process.
Winchester Police Crime Prevention Specialist Jennifer Hall said a Winchester Police officer conducted a traffic stop on December 24 around 10:30 p.m., in the area of W. Gerrard St. and S. Loudoun St.
The driver of the vehicle, Robert Lindsey, was issued a summons for driving on a suspended license and two warnings for defective headlights. During the encounter, the passenger, Julia Bowen, was found in of possession of cocaine, prescription pills, and a firearm with a filed off serial number.
Hall said Lindsay was arrested after a short foot pursuit on Gerrard St. Officers recovered a black handgun in a nearby backyard, which they determined that Lindsay had thrown during the pursuit.
Hall said in a written statement that additional narcotics were found on Lindsay’s person while he was being booked into the Northwest Regional Adult Detention Center. Lindsay also made threats to several Winchester Police Officers, according to the statement.
Robert Lindsay, 35, is charged with possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine, possession of a firearm and controlled substance, possession of a weapon by a felon, possession of marijuana by a prisoner, and obstruction of justice.
Julia Bowen, 28, is charged with possession of a firearm and controlled substance, possession of a concealed weapon, and possession of a weapon with an altered serial number.
