on

Virginia State Police reported seizing more than $8.5 million worth of illegal drugs during statewide crime suppression operations conducted from Aug. 12 through Aug. 18.

According to the agency’s weekly report, State Police worked with local, state, and federal partners on criminal investigations and interdiction efforts across the Commonwealth.

The estimated revenue denied due to the seized drugs totaled $8,591,643.

Among the largest seizures reported during the week were 1,586.8 pounds of marijuana, 38 pounds of cocaine, 10 pounds of methamphetamine and 14,000 fentanyl pills.

The totals include seizures made by Virginia State Police, State Police task forces, federal task forces and cases in which State Police assisted other agencies.

Virginia State Police said the ongoing operations are part of a broader effort to disrupt criminal enterprises and support statewide violent crime reduction initiatives.

The agency said it will continue working with law enforcement partners throughout Virginia to target illegal drug trafficking and other criminal activity.

The figures are part of a weekly Virginia State Police crime suppression report.
