Blue Ridge Singers Celebrate 15 Years with a Spectacular Series

Published

on

Front Royal is buzzing with excitement as the Blue Ridge Singers, under the talented direction of Dr. Jeffrey Alban, gear up to mark their 15th anniversary with a concert series that promises to be an unforgettable musical journey. The choir, known for its vibrant and diverse performances, is set to bring a unique blend of choral music to several locations this April.

A Journey from Humble Beginnings to Musical Excellence

Starting fifteen years ago as a small group, the Blue Ridge Singers have blossomed into a choir that draws talent from far and wide. This growth is a testament to the choir’s reputation and the quality of music it produces, making it a sought-after group for singers passionate about choral music.

An Unmissable Series of Performances

The upcoming concerts are slated to start on Friday, April 19th, at the Front Royal Presbyterian Church, followed by performances in Winchester, Manassas, and Upperville. Each concert offers a unique experience, with a special emphasis on accessibility and community engagement.

Orchestra Meets Tango in a Choral Extravaganza

What sets this concert series apart is the inclusion of an orchestra, a first for the Blue Ridge Singers’ anniversary season. Dr. Alban has chosen the Misa Tango by Martín Palmeri as the centerpiece, a decision inspired by the captivating sound of the bandoneon. This unique instrument promises to add an extraordinary dimension to the choir’s performance.

A Celebration of Dance and Music

Titled “Let’s Dance,” the concert series will explore various dance forms through choral music, including tangos, polkas, African dances, and even a rendition of the classic “It Don’t Mean a Thing if You Ain’t Got That Swing.” This eclectic mix ensures something for everyone, from classical enthusiasts to those who enjoy a good foot-tapping rhythm.

An Invitation to Experience and Participate

In keeping with the Blue Ridge Singers’ mission of community involvement and musical excellence, these concerts are open to all, with a free will offering to support the choir’s endeavors. Additionally, Dr. Alban extends an invitation to potential singers, especially altos, to audition and join this dynamic group, highlighting the choir’s welcoming and inclusive nature.

As the Blue Ridge Singers celebrate 15 years of enriching the cultural landscape of Front Royal and beyond, their upcoming concert series is not just a performance but a celebration of community, music, and the joy of singing together. Don’t miss the chance to be part of this musical feast!
